sweet baby in the waiting room

I have been looking forward to this visit for at least a month for several reasons.  To get details about starting solids- seems like an exciting new venture for now, but I'm sure we'll be tired of it and the new smelly diapers after a few weeks.  And we wanted to talk to the doctor about Jack's poor sleep habits and what our options are for making this better.

Overall, Jack probably did the best that he's ever done at a doctor's visit.  Poor little guy got four shots, but he didn't hold his breath this time and we were able to calm him down pretty quickly afterward.

Sleep:  Dr. says it time to let him cry.  The gas might be waking him up but he needs to be able to put himself back to sleep after.   He did say that we had been doing the right thing to not let him cry up until this point.  Now that his reflux seems to be under control or not a factor anymore we got the green light to do ferber. I'm still dreading it, though.

Solids: We have a whole schedule to make it up to 9 months.  We held off starting until now because Jack had some rough spots on his skin during his 4 month checkup.  We attributed this to him having my sensitive skin and thought maybe we need to bathe him less often and be careful about detergents.  The dr. told us that this is also a sign of possible food allergies and if that's the case they want you to wait until 6 months to start solids.  We said that we weren't in any hurry to feed him solids (and we definitely aren't ready for smelly diapers) so we've waited until now.

Other than his inability to sleep, J.jr. is a healthy, happy baby- with a little tiny cold right now.
